This role specializes in creating key images that represent the most important moments of a scene, defining poses, acting, composition, emotion, and visual storytelling. The Keyframe Artist acts as a bridge between the script, storyboard, and animation, providing clear visual guidance for the development of movement and the final execution by the animation team.
Key Responsibilities
- Create illustrated keyframes that define poses, expressions, and key narrative moments.
- Translate scripts, storyboards, and animatics into images with strong visual impact and narrative clarity.
- Define body language, silhouettes, acting, and composition to support the story.
- Ensure consistency with the project’s visual style, color script, and art direction.
- Collaborate closely with Concept Artists, Storyboard Artists, the Art Director, and the Creative Lead.
- Refine and adjust images based on creative feedback and client notes.
- Deliver clear and functional keyframes that serve as direct reference for animation and production teams.
Job Requirements
- Experience as a Concept Artist, Keyframe Artist, or Visual Development Artist.
- Portfolio demonstrating strong visual storytelling, acting, posing, and composition.
- Solid understanding of anatomy, perspective, silhouette, and body expression.
- Proficiency with digital illustration tools (Photoshop, Procreate, Clip Studio, etc.).
- Ability to work from references, scripts, and creative direction.
- Openness to using Artificial Intelligence tools as support in the creation of keyframes.
