Job Description:
Systems Technology & Research, Inc. (STaR) is seeking a Technical Writer/Illustrator in the Huntsville, AL area to support an Army Aviation Project Office located at Redstone Arsenal, AL. Candidate will support writing/illustrating technical specifications, reports, and/or manuals for internal documentation, customer reference or publications. The candidate will analyze technical literature, write/illustrate descriptive copy, and verify documentation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review documents TMs, IETM updates (Work Packages), MWOs, TBs, and DMWR/NMWR) IAW MIL-STD 40051, MIL-HDBK 1222 and MIL-PRF 63002
- Update and make corrections for 2028s, TMs, DMWRs and NMWRs
- Conduct document (TM, MWO) verifications ensuring the documents are IAW Army standards
- Update and brief the Government on the status of projects assigned to the Publication and Modifications team
- Attend briefings conducted by the Product Support Managers, briefed on projects assigned to Publication team
- Train newly assigned Technical Writers
- Write, manage, and staff acquisition logistics documentation.
- Provide timely review of new or updated acquisition documentation, such as Life Cycle Sustainment Plans (LCSP) and associated annexes, Acquisition Strategies (AS), and Systems Engineering Plans (SEP) to support alignment with the LCSP and acquisition milestone reviews.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree with 8-10 years of experience as a technical writer/illustrator in the Defense field, Aviation field preferred.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
- Have experience with acquisition and sustainment management, logistics, data management, manufacturing, configuration management, training and test and evaluation
- Possess a current Secret Clearance (preferred)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Communicate effectively with corporate and customer executives
- Proficient in MS Office Suite of applications as well as other publication suites such as Adobe
