Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled 3D Artist to create high-quality, optimized 3D assets and environments for Digital Twin and industrial visualization solutions. The role involves 3D modeling, texturing, material creation, lighting, rendering, and optimization of assets for real-time visualization platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and optimize 3D assets (industrial equipment, factory environments, vehicles, robotics, port infrastructure) for use in OpenUSD/Omniverse-based digital twins, and various other systems.
- Convert CAD data (STEP, IGES, SolidWorks, native mechanical formats) into simulation-ready ("SimReady") USD assets
- Build and maintain material libraries with physically accurate PBR properties (not just visual materials: properties that inform collision, friction, and sensor simulation)
- Perform poly reduction, retopology, and LOD (level-of-detail) generation while preserving UVs, collision geometry, and semantic structure
- Set up collision meshes, physics proxies, and joint/articulation rigging for simulated machinery, robots, and AMRs
- Tag assets with semantic metadata (asset class, function, material type) to support AI-driven asset retrieval and scene understanding
- Collaborate with simulation engineers to validate that assets behave correctly under physics simulation (mass, inertia, contact behavior)
- Work within a structured versioning/lineage pipeline: every asset needs traceable provenance, not just a final export
- Support real-time performance targets: assets must render and simulate efficiently in live Omniverse sessions, not just look good in isolation
- Troubleshoot and document pipeline issues (e.g., mesh count inconsistencies, instancing failures, format-conversion artifacts) in collaboration with pipeline engineers
Skill Requirements
Strong experience with Blender, Autodesk Maya, 3ds Max, or similar 3D tools.
Hands-on experience in 3D modeling, UV mapping, texturing, PBR materials, lighting, and rendering.
Experience with Substance 3D Painter/Designer or equivalent texturing tools.
Understanding of polygon optimization, LOD, topology, and real-time rendering.
Experience working with CAD/engineering models and industrial assets.
Knowledge of OpenUSD/USD and NVIDIA Omniverse is highly preferred.
Familiarity with Unreal Engine or Unity is an advantage.
Other Requirements
- Experience with Isaac Sim, SimReady asset specifications, or industrial digital twin platforms (Siemens, Bentley iTwin, AVEVA)
- Exposure to game engines (Unreal/Unity) for cross-platform asset delivery
- Background or coursework in mechanical/industrial design: helps bridge the gap between "looks right" and "is physically correct"
- Experience working with manufacturing, port/logistics, or heavy industrial clients
