3. Summary of the opportunity
- Client Overview: The Coalition is a flagship first-party studio within Xbox Game Studios, known for the critically acclaimed Gears of War series. They are committed to pushing the limits of Microsoft's entertainment platform and devices.
- Role Summary: As a Technical Animator, you will collaborate with peers to develop and maintain gameplay animation systems. You will work with our animation systems in Unreal Engine 5 to support animators in achieving animation quality goals while ensuring gameplay responsiveness and behavioral goals are met.
4. What are the key responsibilities?
- Collaborate with peers in designing and implementing animation state machines, behaviors, and runtime solutions following best practices.
- Work with engineers and leads to create animation behavior tools and techniques for building complex movement systems.
- Solve in-game animation implementation issues and provide technical support to the animation team.
- Identify opportunities to improve the animation pipeline and propose solutions for technical animation efficiencies.
- Foster a positive and creative work environment that supports diversity and inclusion.
5. What experience are we looking for to drive success?
- MUST-Have Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in AAA video game development with real-time animation systems.
- Experience with Unreal Engine, ideally creating animation blueprints.
- Self-motivated, creative problem solver, and excellent communicator.
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
- Passion for the gaming industry and knowledge of industry trends and technologies.
- Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience with Python.
- Familiarity with animation graph, state machines, IK, and control rig.
