Pixaera is redefining safety training through immersive simulations that look, feel, and move like the real world. We’re looking for an Animator with a passion for realism and mastery of motion-capture workflows to bring lifelike characters and experiences into Unreal Engine 5.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of craft excellence and technical execution, ensuring every movement in our simulations supports the realism and emotional impact we aim to deliver.
Create, integrate, and polish realistic character animations for gameplay and cinematic sequences in UE5.
Work with mocap data from shoot to screen — from retargeting to procedural adjustment — ensuring believable, fluid motion.
Use UE5’s Sequencer for cutscenes, scripted sequences, and gameplay events.
Apply Control Rig to make procedural adjustments or keyframe edits directly inside UE5.
Collaborate closely with designers, tech animators, and engineers to ensure animations meet performance and technical constraints.
Make minor rig adjustments in Maya (joint hierarchy changes, constraints, deformation fixes) to keep production moving smoothly.
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven track record delivering realistic, mocap-driven animation — no semi-realistic or cartoon styles.
Unreal Engine 5 expertise, including:
Animation integration for gameplay and cinematics
Sequencer workflow
Control Rig setup and usage
Ideally: basic mocap cleanup inside UE5
MotionBuilder knowledge:
Characterization and retargeting workflow
Basic mocap cleanup and problem-solving
Maya rigging familiarity:
Minor rig adjustments
Understanding of joint hierarchies, constraints, and deformation principle
Bonus Skills
Experience handling end-to-end mocap cleanup within UE5 to reduce reliance on external tools.
Familiarity with simulation or training-focused animation (industrial, defense, medical, etc.).
You have a keen eye for realism and understand the subtleties that make human movement believable.
You’re comfortable balancing quality and speed, making smart compromises to meet production timelines without sacrificing core fidelity.
You can work cross-functionally with engineers, designers, and producers, translating technical requirements into animation solutions.
You’re a self-starter who can spot problems in the pipeline and propose solutions.
