3D Environment / Procedural Artist

Bagira
Full-time
On-site
Brno, Jihomoravský kraj, Israel
- All Characteristics

Bagira is a leader in the field of training and simulation systems with a track record of delivering high-end, customized, cost-effective solutions for mission readiness. Bagira’s simulators are being used by hundreds of thousands of soldiers at more than 40 sites worldwide.

We are expanding our specialized engineering team responsible for creating highly realistic virtual terrains and cities. We work with real-world geospatial data to build massive, large-scale environments covering entire countries (e.g., Netherlands, Switzerland, Israel).

Bagira is looking for a 3D Environment / Procedural Artist to join us. Your focus will be the procedural generation of realistic 3D buildings and infrastructure at city and country scales. We are looking for an artist who combines a strong sense of realism with a technical mindset, capable of turning GIS data into immersive simulation worlds.

What will you do?

  • Procedural Generation: Design and implement 3D buildings (residential, high-rise, administrative, industrial) using procedural workflows.
  • Urban Environments: Create realistic, large-scale urban environments from real-world GIS data.
  • Infrastructure Development: Build complex infrastructure assets including roads, highways, bridges, railways, tunnels, and ports.
  • Texture Optimization: Prepare and optimize 2D textures and PBR materials to ensure visual fidelity and performance.
  • Workflow Collaboration: Collaborate on the development of procedural rules and scripting to streamline environment creation.
  • Engine Optimization: Optimize all 3D assets and environments specifically for high-performance simulation engines.
  • Technical Artistry: Balance artistic quality with technical constraints, ensuring that large-scale terrains remain both realistic and functional.

Tools we use

  • Photoshop, Substance Painter
  • Blender, Esri CityEngine, Houdini
  • Global Mapper, QGIS

Required skills

  • Proven professional experience with 3D modelling and environmental art.
  • Strong artistic skills and a keen eye for realism, scale, and architectural detail.
  • Ability (or strong willingness) to learn and master procedural workflows and scripting.
  • Fluent Czech/Slovak and English
  • Practical experience with GIS tools (e.g., QGIS) and familiarity with data formats such as Shapefile, DTM, DSM, and OSM.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard tools: Photoshop, Substance Painter, Esri CityEngine, and QGIS.
  • Experience in asset optimization for real-time applications or simulation engines.
  • Ability to work within a specialized team, contributing to technical decision-making and project roadmaps.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to present technical decisions clearly, and collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders.

Nice to have experience:

  • Unreal Engine, Unity
  • Blender, 3ds Max
