Technical Illustrator

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To perform technical illustrations in order to support all Denel projects. Create and maintain technical Illustrations/graphics required for technical documents.

Technical Illustrations and Manuals:

• Engage with internal stakeholders to gain better understanding of the product and create ideas to suite the brief.
• Visit manufacturing or production sites to view the systems or equipment to be illustrated.
• Produce and deliver Illustrations;

• Analyse data pack provided by Technical Author with his redlines according to the relevant specifications for the product or IETM (Interactive Electronic Technical manual)
• Using photographic skills, computer packages to create and produce illustrations.

• Compile D-Level Manuals and liaise with the Technical Library for distribution.
• Create illustrations for use in presentations at Engineering Forums.

Market Growth:

• Customer Relationship management;

• Attend Site visits to stakeholders
• Attend meetings when required
• Create illustrations for use in presentations at Engineering Forums

Financial:

• Provide input in the Cost centre budget

• Grade 12 or equivalent,
• Relevant Technical Qualification (Preferably aviation or transport related)
• Drivers Licence
• 3 years Technical Illustrating experience
• 3 years Technical Documentation experience           
• 5 years technical trade experience

Training and Knowledge:

• Proficiency in the following software:

• MS Office
• Adobe Products - Indesign, Photoshop, Acrobat
• CorelDraw
• Isodraw
• Rhinocerous 3D
• 3d CAD experience
• Must be able to read, interpret and visualise design drawings
